We’re excited to invite you to our Lobby Day March 2nd! This is a chance for Adult Family Home providers and supporters across Washington to come together and advocate for the policies our residents, workforce, and homes need.
This legislative session is a consequential one for Adult Family Homes. Decisions made in Olympia will directly affect your daily operations, resident services, and long-term sustainability. Your voice matters, and when lawmakers hear directly from providers and those who support this work, we are far more likely to achieve meaningful, practical outcomes.
Our key priorities this session include:
- Protecting programs in our CBA. Last session the legislature ended our Meaningful Day program despite being included in our CBA.
- Streamlining TB testing requirements by recognizing recent negative tests across licensed adult family homes to reduce duplicative testing and hiring delays.
- Addressing MCO billing and payment delays for Community Behavioral Health Support and Intensive Behavioral Support Services.
- Reducing referral inequities in adult family homes.
What is Lobby Day?
Lobby Day is an annual event scheduled during the legislative session that brings providers and affiliate business partners together to discuss critical issues affecting AFHs. Attendees will have an opportunity to network, get updates on the Council’s advocacy efforts, and meet with their lawmakers to voice their concerns.
Attending this Lobby Day will allow you to:
- Understand community issues
- Share your experience
- Educate your lawmaker
- Advance the AFH Council’s mission: To improve the lives and well-being of vulnerable adults through the support of adult family homes
Meet With Your Legislator
The Council will schedule meetings for members who would like to meet with their legislators. Meetings will be organized in groups by legislative district. When you register, please select “Yes” when asked whether you would like to meet with your legislator. Once your meeting is scheduled and confirmed, we will share the details with you.
Please be aware that you must register by February 23rd for Lobby Day to have a meeting scheduled by the Council on your behalf. Suaad Laari from our advocacy team will be reaching out by phone to confirm these meetings.
