Led by occupational therapists from EvergreenHealth Home Health, this practical class explores effective communication and behavior strategies to better support residents living with dementia. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how cognitive changes impact communication and behavior, learn person-centered approaches to reduce distress and responsive behaviors, and practice techniques that promote meaningful engagement, dignity, and quality of life in daily care interactions. The session also addresses identifying common triggers, implementing proactive non-pharmacological interventions, and using environmental and activity-based modifications to enhance comfort, connection, and overall well-being.
