Trauma Informed Care
Event Information
Please join Sarah Lane, Owner of S&H Training for this informative webinar.
Attendees will learn about trauma-informed care practices to shift from “What is wrong with this resident?” to “What has happened to this resident?” Traumatic experiences are widespread and can have long-lasting effects on residents and providers. These enduring reactions can include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, nightmares, trust issues, and other challenging behaviors. We will learn to use the five guiding trauma-informed principles of safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness and empowerment to develop relationships, connection and mutual understanding with residents in our care. The goal is to understand the resident’s perspective, learn their triggers and coping mechanisms, and find a way to provide care that protects them from retraumatization.
1.5 hours CE are available to all AFH Council members who attend the entire presentation.
