Webinar: Providing Culturally Competent Long-Term Supports and Services For LGBTQ+ Older Adults Living in Adult Family Homes
Presented by Ruben Rivera-Jackman with AgePRIDE/Safe Home, The Goldsen Institute, School of Social Work, University of Washington
The Safe Home Training Program was developed to increase the awareness and enhance the knowledge of direct care workers and expand their capacity and that of leadership and administrators to deliver excellent care, support, and services for LGBTQ older adults living in long-term care environments, including Skilled Nursing Homes, Assisted Living and Congregate Care Facilities, and Adult Family Home Environments.
The goal is to improve the quality of person-centered care for long-term care residents by addressing the distinct needs of vulnerable health disparate communities, especially LGBTQ and older adults of color, by creating a safe training environment where long-term care team members can meet the following objectives:
1. Develop cognitive and behavioral skills to cultivate inclusive and safe environments for LGBGQ older adults and older adults of color.
2. Create culturally affirming and responsive long-term care environments that benefit all residents and their families and caregivers.
1.5 hours of CE are available for members who register and attend the Webinar.
