2024 Lobby Day Recap
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2024 annual Lobby Day event! Special thanks goes to our sponsors Cornerstone Healthcare Training, Ready Meds Pharmacy, and MyMedSupplies. We had an amazing day that could not have been made possible without them! The day kicked off with breakfast and opening presentations from AFH Council Executive Director John Ficker and Advocacy Coordinator Amina Abdalla. We also heard from special guest speakers:
-
- Tana Senn, Representative of the 41st Legislative District
- Mike Anbesse, ALTSA Deputy Assistant Secretary
- Cathy Murahashi, ARC of Washington Public Policy Specialist
- Alyssa Odegard, Leading Age Washington Vice President of Public Policy
- Lauri St. Ours, Washington Health Care Association Executive Vice President of Communications & Government Relations
Lunch was served just before our traditional group picture at the Capitol Rotunda, and the Council scheduled more than 60 meetings with providers and their lawmakers throughout the day. We celebrated the end of the successful event with a reception generously hosted by our Lacey Chapter. We’ve heard great feedback from everyone who attended and from lawmakers who had the opportunity to meet with providers in their districts. We look forward to seeing everyone again at our next Lobby Day in 2025! All of the materials shared during Lobby Day can be found here. What is Lobby Day?
Lobby Day is an annual event scheduled during the legislative session that brings providers and affiliate business partners together from across the state to discuss critical issues affecting AFHs. Attendees have opportunities to network and get updates on the Council’s advocacy efforts. The Council also coordinates with lawmakers to schedule meetings with providers in their legislative districts to share their concerns. Breakfast, lunch, and fun are provided!
Legislative Agenda
Our legislative agenda for this 2024 legislative session seeks to address the allocation of Managed Care Organization funding, the formation of a liability insurance workgroup to address rates and restrictions, resident non-payments, and other critical issues impacting AFHs across the state. We encourage all providers to review the legislative agenda for more information on the Council’s current legislative priorities.
