This Election’s Impact on Your AFH

Election AFH Impact

Washington’s Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug 6, 2024. This is yet another crucial election season where your votes can drastically affect the political climate for adult family homes. This Primary Election is especially critical because it determines which candidates will advance to the General Election in November. It will not include presidential candidates, but our local and state officials have just as much impact.

How Your Vote Affects Your AFH

Your vote significantly impacts adult family homes in Washington state, shaping crucial aspects of their operation and the quality of care provided to residents:

  • Regulation and Oversight: State legislators establish the standards for health, safety, and staffing in adult family homes. Their decisions directly influence how your facility operates and ensures compliance with these critical regulations.
  • Funding and Financial Support: Legislators determine funding levels for the Adult Family Home Council Collective Bargaining Agreement and other financial support programs. Their choices affect your reimbursement rates and overall financial stability, impacting your ability to deliver high-quality care.
  • Policy Development: Elected officials who are informed about and advocate for adult family homes can drive meaningful improvements and address the specific challenges these facilities face. Their support is vital for fostering a supportive and effective care environment.
