Heat Pumps in Adult Family Homes

We know it’s extremely hot right now, and many of you are working hard to keep your residents safe and comfortable. We want to share an important update about new heat pump funding that is on the way for adult family homes.

The state has allocated funding from the Climate Commitment Account to support heat pump installations in adult family homes across Washington. This funding is being used by the Department of Commerce to set up a statewide rebate and incentive program that will help cover the costs of purchasing and installing high‑efficiency heat pumps in AFHs.

Commerce is currently in the final stages of selecting third‑party administrators who will run these rebate programs. Once those administrators are officially awarded, they will be responsible for offering rebates and incentives directly to providers, including details on eligibility, application steps, and timelines.

We understand how urgent this feels, especially given the current heat. While we are still waiting for Commerce to finish the administrator selection process, they are very close to completing those awards. As soon as the third‑party administrators are named and ready to enroll adult family homes, we will immediately notify you with clear instructions on how to access the funding.

In the meantime, please know that we are closely tracking this process. The minute we have more concrete information, who the administrators are, when applications open, and what you need to do, we will share it with you through our usual communication channels.

Thank you for everything you are doing to care for your residents under challenging conditions. We will keep you updated as soon as new information becomes available.
