Home Care Aide Certification Exam Test Site Options
The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) announced additional testing options for non-union caregivers seeking Home Care Aide (HCA) certification. Non-union caregivers may now complete their certification exams through Prometric or at one of the approved testing and training sites listed on the Department of Health website.
The Department also announced that improvements to the online test site search tool are underway. Until those updates are complete, caregivers can locate available testing sites using the Excel spreadsheet and PDF documents currently available on the Department of Health website.
Scheduling Your Certification Exam
Non-union caregivers who choose to test at an approved testing and training site must contact the testing program directly to schedule their certification exams. Examination appointments cannot be scheduled through the Department of Health.
Caregivers are also responsible for paying all examination fees directly to the testing program where they choose to test.
SEIU 775 Benefits Group Members
This guidance applies only to non-union caregivers. Caregivers who are members of the SEIU 775 Benefits Group should continue scheduling their certification exams through Prometric unless otherwise directed by their training program.

Non-union caregivers are encouraged to:
- Review the list of approved testing and training sites on the Department of Health website.
- Contact the testing program directly to schedule certification exams.
- Pay examination fees directly to the testing program.
- Use the available Excel spreadsheet or PDF to locate approved testing sites while website updates are in progress.
- If you are a member of the SEIU 775 Benefits Group, continue following your training program’s instructions regarding certification testing.
