Dear Adult Family Home Providers,
We want to share an important update about the Adult Family Home Training Network (AFHTN) and the Long-Term Care Foundation (LTCF).
As the exclusive bargaining representative for adult family homes, the Adult Family Home Council under RCW 70.128.305 has the authority to designate the Adult Family Home Training Network (AFHTN) to a nonprofit organization with the capacity to provide training, workforce development, and other services to adult family homes.
In 2019, the Council exercised that authority and designated the AFHTN contract that the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) implemented through a vendor contract with the Long-Term Care Foundation (LTCF).
After careful review, the Council has decided to designate a different entity to serve as the Adult Family Home Training Network going forward.
Our priorities in this process are:
-Ensuring there is no lapse in training or support services for providers and caregivers.
-Working with DSHS and the current vendor to support a smooth transition.
-Aligning the AFHTN structure with the intent of the statute and the needs of adult family home providers.
At this time, you do not need to make any changes to your current training plans. As the effective date and new AFHTN entity are finalized, we will send clear, detailed information about where and how to access required training courses and other services.
To ensure full transparency and open dialogue, we will be holding a webinar on Friday, February 20, at 3:00 p.m. Please click the zoom registration link below to register. This will be an open forum where you can ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of the Adult Family Home Training Network (AFHTN), the Long-Term Care Foundation (LTCF), the Council, and how these entities intersect.
