Positive Partnerships: AFHs and Long-Term Care Ombuds
A video celebrating Joan Whitlock, a Long-Term Care Ombudsman of 19 years, begins with footage of Arbor Rose AFH in Tacoma. Produced by Pierce County TV, the video highlights Joan’s remarkable volunteer work and showcases the power of collaboration. Below, hear from Tammy Stimach, owner of The Arbor Rose Inc., as she shares insights about this incredible opportunity.
This video highlights the positive partnership with the Ombudsman in Pierce County. We were honored to be chosen as the adult family home to represent homes in our area for this program with an ombudsman who has served over 19 years volunteering. In almost 24 years of operation, we never received a complaint from either a resident or a family member about this program, thanks to Joan, who has visited both of our homes quarterly for the past 19 years. She was chosen by her peers, and we are very grateful to shine for all of the adult family homes in our area.
The Pierce Channel 22 film crew visited one Monday morning while we were having our activity program with Amy Peterson with ElderSound Entertainment. Having engaging activities like these helps reduce behaviors, boredom, and various medical conditions, keeping our dementia residents out of the hospital. Enjoy the video and see firsthand what an experienced AFH can offer!
