Supplemental Shakes Recall Alert

From the Department of Social and Health Services:

This message is to notify long-term care owners/providers/administrators to an important recall of frozen supplemental shakes related to an outbreak investigation of Listeria monocytogenes, aka, “Listeria”.  

WHAT: On February 22, 2025, Lyons Magnus LLC announced a nationwide voluntary recall of 4 oz. Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial Frozen Supplemental Shakes due to the potential for the products to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes:

  • The FDA and CDC are investigating a multistate outbreak of Listeria infections linked to frozen supplement shakes.
  • On February 24, 2025, the FDA announced 38 persons had been infected with Listeria in 21 states.
  • 12 deaths have been reported linked to the Listeria outbreak.
  • Washington state is listed as a state with cases in the FDA announcement.
  • The recalled products were distributed primarily to hospitals and long-term care settings.

Action Requested:

  • Read the recall alert.
  • Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
    • For more information about Listeria infection/listeriosis, consult the CDC Listeria Infection webpage.
    • Do not consume or serve any of the recalled products.
    • Dispose of any recalled products and clean refrigerators, containers, and surfaces that may have touched the recalled products.
    • If recalled products were recently consumed, contact a healthcare provider immediately if signs or symptoms of Listeria infection develop
