Welcome our New Education & Support Specialist!

AMY THOMAS

Hello everyone! My name is Amy Thomas (Bailey), and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the newest Education and Support Specialist for the Adult Family Home Council. With over 27 years of experience in Adult Family Homes, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to this role.

My Journey:

  • From 1997 to 2018, I served as an Adult Family Home Manager and Provider. During those years, I learned firsthand about the challenges and rewards of caring for our aging population.
  • Since 2018, I’ve been an AFH Consultant, working closely with providers to ensure they have the tools and information they need to excel.
  • As a member of the Advisory Board for the Long-Term Care Foundation, I’ve contributed to shaping policies and practices that benefit both providers and residents.
  • Teaching continuing education courses for various forums has allowed me to share insights, best practices, and innovations with fellow professionals.
  • Additionally, I’ve been part of the IDR Panel (Independent Dispute Resolution) for Adult Family Homes, advocating for fair and effective conflict resolution.

My Mission:

As an Education and Support Specialist, my goal is clear to empower providers!

I’m committed to:

  • Providing up-to-date and relevant information, ensuring that providers stay informed about industry changes and best practices.
  • Educating communities about the vital role of Adult Family Homes and the compassionate work providers do every day.
  • Supporting and uplifting providers, because their dedication directly impacts the well-being of our seniors.
