Think of all the learning opportunities present in one’s home and community – endless!
How do we support individuals to engage in choosing and learning?
This session will focus on what, when and how to teach. Historical perspective will be shared to understand
many of the myths that have defined and limited opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Real-world examples of successful experiences that demonstrate the power of learning will be provided.
We will also examine ‘less-than-successful’ examples and discuss how to assess the process, outcome, and
our own assumptions in order to achieve the ‘successful experience’.
Also addressed: the importance of data collection in addressing concerns of safety and independence,
understanding data collection methods, and creating, using, and interpreting data.
