AFH Council Award Ceremony

Dear Adult Family Home Providers,

As many of you are aware, the Governor has declared September as Adult Family Home Month. The AFH Council has marked this special month with a series of unique celebrations. These festivities have included spotlighting adult family homes every week, our annual fall conference, and the first ever Adult Family Home Council Award Ceremony, where we had the privilege of honoring exceptional caregivers, advocates, and legislators.

Yesterday afternoon’s award ceremony exceeded our expectations. The majority of the afternoon was dedicated to recognizing our dedicated caregivers. We felt there was no better way to convey their importance than by allowing their employers, the families of the residents they care for, and the residents themselves to express their gratitude. The room was filled with touching stories that brought tears to some and moments of shared laughter. It was an uplifting and much-needed gathering.

In addition to acknowledging the remarkable contributions of adult family home caregivers, we also had the opportunity to applaud advocates who have made a significant impact and legislators who understand and support our vital work. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended yesterday afternoon’s event, and we hope to see you at fall conference next week!
