Caregivers Needed for the DSHS Direct Care Workforce Collaborative

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is currently seeking caregivers to join the Direct Care Workforce Collaborative (DCWC) in 2026. The DCWC is a volunteer advisory group made up of caregivers from a variety of long-term care settings who provide input on programs and policies focused on recruiting, supporting, and retaining the direct care workforce across Washington state.

DSHS is specifically seeking:

  • Caregivers with long-term experience working in group care settings located in rural areas, including assisted living facilities, adult family homes, skilled nursing facilities, or enhanced services facilities; or

  • Individuals who are unpaid caregivers providing in-home care to a family member.

Members of the Direct Care Workforce Collaborative meet six times per year from 2:00–4:00 p.m. Meetings are held virtually via Zoom, with a call-in option available. The 2026 meeting dates are February 19, April 16, June 18, August 20, October 15, and December 17. Members are compensated for their time, subject to available budget.

Interested individuals may nominate themselves or someone else by submitting the nomination form online. Before applying, applicants are encouraged to review important information regarding community compensation and public reporting disclosure.
