Everyday Support for Dual Diagnosis Training Opportunity

Everyday Support for Dual Diagnosis is a training designed for professionals who support individuals with developmental disabilities who also experience mental health conditions. The training focuses on helping providers better understand dual diagnosis and how the interaction between developmental disabilities and mental health conditions can affect behavior, communication, daily support needs, and overall well-being.

Participants will learn how to distinguish between developmental disabilities and mental health conditions and apply that understanding to person-centered support practices. The training will also review the limits of the professional caregiver role, when additional support may be necessary, and how coordinated support plans can help address both developmental and mental health needs.

Trauma-Informed Support and Communication

A key focus of the training is building safe and supportive relationships through trauma-informed care, respectful communication, and validation techniques. Participants will also learn how to document behaviors using objective, descriptive, and accurate language to support effective team communication and improve outcomes for individuals living with a dual diagnosis.
