Updated Worker Safety Awareness Program

The Adult Family Home Worker Safety Awareness Program is a free, statewide training program that teaches adult family home providers and caregivers how to identify, prevent, and respond to common workplace hazards in care settings (like injuries from lifting, exposure to hazardous drugs, and bloodborne pathogens). It is designed to help adult family homes comply with Labor & Industries (L&I) requirements while building a stronger safety culture and reducing injuries.

We’re excited to announce the launch of the updated Adult Family Home Industry Worker Safety Awareness Program on June 16, 2026.  This enhanced training will make workplace safety more accessible, practical, and relevant for providers and staff. Designed for today’s workforce, the e-Course automatically adapts to desktops, tablets, and smartphones, allowing learners to train anytime, anywhere.

Featuring 43 interactive micro-modules, including four quizzes, the updated e-Course offers flexible training that accommodates busy workdays. Each module takes 15 minutes or less to complete. The revamped safety training program also includes supplemental resources such as educational PDFs in seven languages, fun interactive games, knowledge checks, and optional modules to enhance learning. Users will explore topics such as PPE, ergonomics, hazardous drugs, and other common workplace hazards, while gaining a better understanding of L&I requirements and regulations.

Participants who successfully complete the program and pass all four quizzes will earn continuing education credits. This program was designed to strengthen safety practices, support caregivers, and enhance the well-being of those receiving care. After taking the e-Course, users will be able to prevent workplace injuries and promote a safer environment in Adult Family Homes.

Stay tuned for additional details as we approach the June 16th launch date. We look forward to sharing this updated training program with the Adult Family Home community.
