Dear Providers,

As we pass the midpoint of the 2024 legislative session, it’s inspiring to see the impact your voices are having! We are halfway through the legislative session, which means every bill that doesn’t make it out its chamber of origin by February 13th will not be moving forward this session. Bills that meet this deadline will go through the same process it did in its chamber of origin. This means bills that started in the house, will go to the senate where there will be more public hearings, executive sessions and floor debates, and vice versa.

HB 2015: Adult Family Homes Capacity

We are excited to inform you that HB 2015, an act relating to incentivizing adult family homes to increase bed capacity to seven or eight beds, has passed the House and is now in the Senate where it has been scheduled for a public hearing on February 15, 2024.

This bill would expedite the inspection process for adult family homes looking to expand to a seventh or eighth bed. Below is a table illustrating the changes AFH providers can expect to see with the implementation of HB 2015.

Make Your Voice Heard!

We are asking everyone to vote PRO on HB 2015! There are homes that have met the requirements to expand to a seven or eight bed, but have been unable to expand because they can’t get a second or even first inspection.

Click the button below to select your position for the bill as PRO. Please remember to fill out your first and last name, as well as your adult family home name and address before submitting your vote.

The AFH Council will testify in support of the bill on Thursday, February 15th, at 10:30am. Votes must be submitted by 9:30am that day. Please contact amina@adultfamilyhomecouncil.org with any questions.
