Each month, the AFH Council Member Services Team works alongside Adult Family Home providers to ensure they have the tools, resources, and guidance they need. Behind every number is a story of someone reaching out for help, and we’re proud to share how we supported our community during September.
That means 329 different members contacted us in September—and more than 700 times, our team stepped in to provide answers, guidance, or simply reassurance during challenging moments. A special thank-you goes to MJ and Kris, who were on the front lines taking all these calls and supporting our members with care and dedication.
Top 3 Subject Areas:
Client Issues – 85
From navigating transfer and discharge (19), to managing difficult behaviors (16), to resolving concerns around POA or guardianship (10), these cases reflect the heart of what AFH providers face every day. Each call represents a family and a resident depending on us for support.
DSHS – 71
Many members needed help untangling complex systems like CBHS/IBSS programs (17), Provider One billing questions (11), and responding to citations (10). These conversations aren’t just about compliance—they’re about protecting homes, keeping residents safe, and making sure providers can continue their important work.
Membership – 70
Our members also leaned on us for growth and connection. We supported 25 members with CE, training, or webinar access, answered 13 questions about the website, and helped 7 members with marketing their homes. These services may look small on paper, but they represent growth, confidence, and empowerment for providers across Washington.
Why It Matters
The numbers are impressive, but what matters most is the reassurance, knowledge, and advocacy we provided throughout September. Every transfer issue resolved, every training answered, every citation supported—it all adds up to stronger homes and better care for residents.
We are proud to walk alongside our members and will continue to be here, every step of the way.
