Motivational Interviewing and Crisis Response: A Trauma Informed Approach

The training course provides an overview of utilizing motivational interviewing in crisis situations, using a trauma-informed approach.

This training explores the tenets of motivational interviewing, specifically highlighting how to use a trauma-informed approach to aid individuals to stabilize during a crisis. Provides an overview of motivational interviewing and crisis stabilization procedures for individuals with problematic behaviors.

AFH Council Statewide Virtual Chapter Meeting

De-escalation

This training will cover the essentials of de-escalation, including how to recognize early signs of a potential crisis and maintain safety in challenging situations. Participants will learn effective verbal de-escalation techniques, gain an understanding of validation, and explore real-world scenarios to understand how to respond appropriately and confidently.

DSHS-Home & Community Services (HCS) and AFH Provider Quarterly Connection-This Quarter’s Topic: Residency Agreement requirement as of January 1, 2026.

Home and Community Services (HCS) is welcoming Medicaid contracted Adult Family Home providers to connect with HCS headquarters and regional leadership through virtual quarterly meetings. HCS plans for these quarterly 90-minute connection sessions as an opportunity for AFH providers and HCS leadership to discuss important topics of provider interest, provide updates and education, and most importantly to come together to strengthen communication and understanding in our shared mission of quality long-term care services for our most vulnerable clients and residents.

AFHC 2026 Legislative Priorities Overview
