Energy Smart Eastside (ESE) is a city partnership that helps Eastside households learn about, afford and install heat pumps. For a limited time, ESS is offering free heat pumps to operators of adult family homes in Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond, Mercer Island and Sammamish.
Why Heat Pumps
Heat pumps both heat and cool the home. They are incredibly energy efficient, reduce heating bills, are quieter to operate than portable air conditioners, and have the benefit of providing air filtration year around. Adult family homes benefit from the installation of a heat pump by making rooms more comfortable for residents and staff alike, especially during hot and smoky summer days.
What the Program Offers
The Energy Smart Eastside Boost program funds 100% of the cost of purchase and installation of a cold climate heat pump. To qualify, an AFH must:
Be located within the city limits of Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond or Sammamish
Be licensed by the State of Washington and have no active violation
Our program has funding to retrofit 40-50 adult family homes on the Eastside with heat pumps. In the event there are more applications than funding, priority will be given to:
AFHs that accept Medicaid
AFHs without access to central air conditioning
AFHs where the current primary heating is a gas or oil furnace
