| Energy Smart Eastside is offering free heat pumps to licensed Adult Family Homes within the city limits of Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond and Sammamish. Operators of AFHs are invited to join a virtual information session on March 6 from 4pm — 5pm to learn more about the program and the application process. Since 2023, Energy Smart Eastside (ESE) has installed over 125 heat pumps in low-income households, affordable housing units, and supported group housing for the developmentally disabled. ESE is a recipient of the Washington State Department of Commerce HEAR grant that specifically supports implementation of heat pumps in qualified adult family homes. We have seen the big difference that access to reliable heating, summer cooling and year around air filtration has made for residents and staff of supported group housing, and we are excited to bring this opportunity to more Eastside adult family homes.
