Weekly Advocacy Update

Jan 28, 2025

Greetings Adult Family Home Council Members,

This week was a huge week and it’s only Tuesday. I want to share that our progress this legislative session is incredible. We have a Bill that is supported by both the House and Senate Chambers, we have support with getting our CBA fully funded, and despite this year being a hard year finically for our state, we have legislators who are willing to push a budget proviso that will increase bed hold rates- a fix that creates capacity for hospitals and patients needing specialized services only adult homes can provide. This would mean rates for days 8-20 would go from $15 a day to $75 a day. This rate has not been adjusted in over 10 years. As an experienced lobbyist and your advocate, I can tell you with certainty that we are going in the right direction.

We need you all to stay engaged. If you’ve attended webinars or have met me, you know that I am representing you all. Your voice is what guides me and is what matters. I am committed to getting us to the finish line this session, along with the rest of the Council’s team.

On January 28, our bill HB 1398 which had over 1300 people signed in PRO was heard in the House Labor and Workplace Standards Committee. Board Member from Region 7 Dan Puravet and I shared with the Committee why this bill needs to be pushed. Watch our testimonies below:

Our main message: this legislative session is about YOUR RIGHT TO FAIR PAY.

Stay Engaged

Please continue to stay engaged. Every Tuesday we offer webinars that share our work in this legislative session. Attending those webinars can help position you effectively. See our upcoming webinars on our Events page.

Register for Lobby Day

Get registered for Lobby Day on March 25th! This is a great opportunity for us to directly communicate with our representatives and tell them why the work we do matters.

With gratitude,
Courtney Williams, MPA
