Know Your Rights: Immigrant Resources

Greetings,

Our office has received several communications regarding deportation concerns. Please know that you have rights that protect you. On behalf of the Adult Family Home Council, we want to share resources to ensure everyone has access to information. For guidance that can help you navigate your rights, please see the Northwest Immigration Rights Project overview.

Adult family homes are private residences and deserve protection from sudden intrusions that disrupt resident care. As a unified Council, we believe in empowering individuals to understand their rights and navigate these difficult situations. Our goal is to provide clear, useful information to ensure that those who may face legal processes are informed and able to protect themselves while adhering to the law.
We are not suggesting that anyone break the law. We are providing resources that reflect the concerns of providers, staff, and residents that we support. We also have deep respect for immigrants who are here legally and have questions that need clarity.

No one should have to live in fear or face harassment. It’s important for all of us to know our rights.

We will continue providing information as things change. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Respectfully,

Courtney Williams, MPA

Membership fees enable the Council to cover legal expenses and fund staff to advocate with the state and regulatory agencies. The participation of every adult family home is vital to ensuring fair regulations and rates that accurately reflect the costs of caring for our vulnerable adults. Consider becoming a member of the Council to help us continue improving conditions for all adult family homes in Washington State.
