HCA Listening Session #2 Format and incorporate supportive bill language into existing rules

The Department of Health’s Home Care Aide Program has filed a CR-101 to implement SB 5672 and SHB 1142, both passed during the 2025 legislative session. The department will host three public workshops to gather input on how to integrate these changes into chapter 246-980 WAC. SHB 1142 updates terminology and clarifies training requirements for in-home caregivers who are exempt from certification. SB 5672 extends certification timelines for long-term care workers from 200 days to 365 days (or 425 with provisional certification) through December 2027.

Cultivating Behavioral Interventions for Mental Health Disorders

The training course focuses on an introduction to creating behavioral interventions for individuals who are living with severe mental illness. The training explores the behavioral assessment, components of documenting behaviors associated with mental illness, and how to utilize behavioral assessments to create behavioral interventions to optimize individuals’ well-being both in and out of long-term care facilities. The training includes case studies and practical training methods.

Use this time to ask questions, share experiences, and connect to resolve issues.

This is a weekly open call; no continuing education credit is offered.
