Dear Members,
Thank you to those who joined us at our recent Statewide Chapter meeting! We truly appreciate the opportunity to connect with so many of our members at once. We’re excited to keep this momentum going and encourage continued participation to keep everyone engaged. During the meeting, we introduced our Executive Board of Directors and new Interim Executive Director, shared our vision for the future, and collaborated with both the Council staff and you, our valued members.
We are excited to keep the announcements rolling with new updates that will soon be available on our About Page under the “AFH Council Board” section. As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency, and open and honest communication, here’s what you can expect:
Board Meeting Minutes: A list of upcoming Board meetings will be available. Once Board minutes are approved, they will be posted for your review.
Current Bylaws: Our current bylaws will also be made available for all members to access.
New Email: The Board is now accessible to members and can be reached at board@adultfamilyhomecouncil.org. Members can share feedback directly with the board.
We are focused on ensuring that our Council is truly driven by its members. We look forward to continuing to build a strong transparent community with all of you.
As your Board of Directors, we would also like to update you on a few key areas where we have been, and continue to, advocate on behalf of our community of Adult Family Home (AFH) providers.
MCO Payment Changes:
The Board has been actively advocating to stop the recent changes to MCO payment processes. Many AFH providers do not support this new system, as it has proven to be cumbersome and is not in the best interest of providers. Despite our continued efforts to address this in the current legislative session, the state has not budged and is moving forward with these changes. We want to assure you that the Board remains committed to fighting for fair and workable solutions for all providers.
Rate Increases: Regarding rate increases, we have also been advocating for fair compensation for providers, as that is a primary source of funding for our services. In the prior legislative session, the state initially proposed a 20% rate increase. However, the Board pushed for a higher increase, advocating for a fairer and more equitable rate. We took the issue to arbitration, and thanks to our efforts, we secured a 32% increase—a 12% improvement over the original offer. This increase was a direct result of the Board’s advocacy, ensuring better pay for our providers during this term.
We want to continue to advocate for policies that protect and support AFH providers, and we are grateful for your ongoing engagement and support in these efforts. We will keep pushing to secure the best outcomes for our community.
Thank you for standing with us and being a part of this journey!
Warm regards,
The Board of Directors
