Stand Out in the AFHC Home Finder

Did you know that listing your Adult Family Home on the AFHC Home Finder is completely free for members? The Home Finder is a powerful marketing tool that helps families, case managers, and referral partners across Washington find homes that meet their needs. A well-maintained listing increases your visibility, strengthens referrals, and helps connect your home with residents who are a good fit. Keeping your profile current ensures that when someone searches for care, your home stands out with clear, accurate information.

Keep Your AFHC Home Finder Listing Fresh & Accurate

Your AFHC Home Finder listing is often the first impression families, case managers, and referral partners have of your adult family home. An accurate, up-to-date listing helps your home stand out, attract appropriate inquiries, and connect with residents who are a strong fit.

Because the Home Finder is frequently used by individuals actively seeking care, even small updates can improve visibility, referrals, and communication.

Why Keeping Your Listing Updated Matters

Outdated information can lead to unnecessary calls, missed opportunities, or confusion about availability and services. Keeping your listing current helps families make informed decisions and improves the quality of referrals your home receives.

Key Areas to Review and Update

When reviewing your Home Finder listing, focus on these important areas:

• Contact Information: Ensure phone and email are current

• Availability: Reflect accurate openings

• Photos: Upload recent, high-quality images

• Description: Highlight services and specialty care

These updates help your home stand out and ensure families and referral partners clearly understand what you provide.

How to Log In and Update Your Home Finder Listing

Updating your listing is simple and can be done in just a few steps:

1. Log in to your AFHC account using your email address and password.

2. From the homepage, select My Account in the top-right corner.

3. Review and update your contact information, availability, services, and description.  Important note: This is the most common reason listings don’t appear on the website. Make sure your availability is set to “I have beds.”

4. Upload new photos as needed. When a photo is successfully uploaded, the file name will appear to the right of the image field. This is easy to miss, so doublecheck before moving on.

5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save to apply your changes.

Taking a few minutes to review these sections can significantly improve how your home appears to those searching for care.

Need Help? We’re Here for You

A strong, up-to-date listing improves visibility, strengthens referrals, and helps connect you with residents who are a good fit. Take a few minutes this week to review your profile — it’s one of the simplest and most effective marketing tools you have.

AFHC Staff Spotlight: Mya Ceder

The Adult Family Home Council is proud to have Mya Ceder serving as a Member Support Specialist on our team. With a background rooted in customer service and firsthand caregiving experience, Mya brings both heart and practical understanding to her work with providers. Since joining the Council, she has become a valued resource for members seeking guidance, reassurance, and support.

A Washington Native with a Service Heart

Born and raised in Washington State, Mya proudly calls the Pacific Northwest home. She is also a devoted Mariners fan.

Throughout her career, Mya has consistently worked in customer service roles because she genuinely enjoys helping people. “I’ve always been drawn to roles where I can support others and help them solve problems,” she shares.

From Caregiving to Advocacy

Before joining the Council, Mya worked as a caregiver. That experience deeply shaped her perspective. “Working as a care provider made me realize just how far real advocacy and support can go,” she says. “I wanted to be part of that.”

Her firsthand understanding of the challenges providers face allows her to connect with members in a meaningful way. She knows the work is demanding, and she understands how important it is to feel supported.

Supporting Providers with Confidence

What Mya enjoys most about her role is being a steady source of reassurance. “I enjoy being able to be the confidence and support providers need to accomplish a problem that feels like it’s been defeating them,” she explains.

Her goal is simple but powerful: she wants members to feel heard. “I want providers to feel like they were truly understood and supported.”

For those who may hesitate to reach out, Mya offers this encouragement: “There is no ‘silly’ or ‘stupid’ question. Please reach out for anything you feel unsure about.”

Life Outside the Office

When she’s not supporting members, Mya enjoys spending time outdoors. She loves snowboarding, kayaking, and hiking with her dog — taking full advantage of everything Washington has to offer.
